To further aid both campers and coaches, FREEDOM soccer will list coaching points focused on for each day of the camp on our website. Check back each day of camp to review.
Day 1 - DRIBBLING
- The 6 surfaces of the foot
- Body Mechanics
- Ball's distance from feet
- Head up
- Technique of a move
- Acceleration first 3 steps after move
- Make move just outside tackling range
- Cut back behind defender after beating them
Day 2 - PASSING
- Accuracy
- Pace
- Placement of the strike: when to use which pass
- Lock ankle
- Head Steady
- Supporting foot
- Deception in passing
- Keep ball moving
- When to pass and when to dribble
- Call for the ball
Day 3 - RECEIVING
- Cushion the ball
- Ankle locked
- L-shaped receiving (inside, outside, ball doesn't stop)
- First touch away from defender
- Use all parts of the body
- Head up
- Call for the ball
- How to make a run (ball-side, goal-side, to space)
- Know what to do before you receive the ball
Day 4 - DEFENDING
- Close the distance to the attacker quickly
Force a direction
- Get low (low center of gravity)
- Shadow attacker ( BE PATIENT)
- Make the tackle when the attacker makes a mistake
- Block tackle, poke tackle, sliding tackle
- Group defending
- Goals of defending
Day 5 - FINISHING
- 3 types of shots (inside, outside, shoelaces)
- Lean forward to keep ball down
- Land on shooting foot for more power
- Aim for corners of the goal
- Power vs. Accuracy
- Shoot from the middle of the field
